Who should enrol?
The Certificate in Police Leadership is designed to assist personnel working in law enforcement to acquire a more complete and detailed knowledge of the practices and principles used in police organizations. Police personnel at all levels will benefit from the material and the exercises involved in each of the certificate courses. Those involved in civilian oversight of police services have also gained relevant insight into how police organizations function from taking some of our courses.
Whether you are working in a sworn or civilian capacity in a municipal, state, provincial, national or regional police department, you will benefit from the learning provided by our diverse course offerings. Some courses assume a level of experience in direct application of police skills and some assignments require access to police resources. You may want to check with the Program Manager to see which course(s) are appropriate for your level of police involvement and experience.
Acceptance into the program is based on your desire to learn. There are no educational admission requirements. However, if you have not been involved in university courses before, you will benefit from consulting with the Program Manager to get advice on which courses to take first.
If you are interested in better serving your community and organization by enhancing your knowledge and skills in a police specific area, the Dalhousie Certificate in Police Leadership is for you.

Each of our courses stand on their own, so you should feel free to take any course that interests you without having to commit to the entire certificate program or having to take PLMD first. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact the Program Manager.
