Professional Designations

Dalhousie University College of Continuing Education seeks to provide continued leadership and support to both the private and public sectors by anticipating and responding to changes and challenges resulting from economic shifts, industry restructuring, globalization of trade, and the trend toward a knowledge-based economy. We are able to provide this leadership through our expertise in distance education and professional development, and by drawing upon the resources of Dalhousie University and our partners in various communities.

Through our professional designation programs we are able to help organizations respond to their need for a highly skilled workforce. We are able to professionalize the development of employees through a certification process involving Dalhousie University and our partners in industry. For the past decade, we have co-sponsored the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) program with the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

The College also has added a General Studies Program (GSP) and a Management Studies Program (MSP) which it co-sponsors with the Credit Union Institute of Canada (CUIC). Both of these national programs allow us to further enrich our understanding of, and core competencies in professional development for individuals employed in a wide range of industries across Canada.

In 1996, Dalhousie University and the Institute of Canadian Bankers established an MBA (Financial Services) program. Dalhousie University College of Continuing Education in a partnering the delivery of this innovative program.
