Certificate Program in Software: Management & Development

A Comprehensive Program of Courses for Software Developers and IT Managers

The certificate program in Software Management & Development incorporates management theory and technical practice to develop the well-rounded, flexible skill set today's employers and clients demand. State-of-the-art course offerings equip you with the technical, business and interpersonal skills required by successful IT project managers. You'll learn processes and procedures for establishing effective software engineering practices, implementing quality assurance standards, and managing people as well as products. Throughout the program, you'll cultivate the effective communication skills you need to work effectively with clients, supervisors, technical and non-technical colleagues. The certificate is awarded after successful completion of six courses.

Admission Requirements
This program is intended for software practitioners who have at least one year experience working in the industry.

Admission with Advanced Standing
An exemption of up to two courses may be granted to students who have successfully completed equivalent courses.

Certificate Requirements
The certificate is awarded after successful completion of six courses, of which one must be Introduction to Software Engineering.

There is a student evaluation at the end of each course. Candidates for the certificate program must attain a minimum of 50 percent in each individual course and an average of at least 60 percent in the program.

The progress of students may be reviewed at any time; in the case of unsatisfactory performance, the student may not be permitted to continue in the program. All requirements must be met within four years.

Scheduling
Typically each course has 36 contact hours spread over 12 sessions of 3 hours each. Thirty-six hours of approved learning in Continuing Technical Education seminars may be considered equivalent to one optional course. Students are required to apply for approval.
