Certificate Program in Quality Management
The Quality Management Certificate Program has been designed as an effective quality initiative to provide individuals with the philosophy, customer focus, guiding principles, fundamental management techniques, and technical tools and systems for continuous improvement.
This professional development program will place a special emphasis on practical applications.
Graduates of the Quality Management Certificate Program will have obtained critical skills required to effect continuous improvement within their organizations.
A key and integral part of this program will be the focus on specific challenges and problems which are faced in a variety of organizations.
Many of the courses offered will be in an evening format; however, some may be offered in the short course/seminar day format. The courses are not for credit towards a university degree.
Admission RequirementsApplicants for the program should normally have successfully completed at least one year of full-time university studies.
Individuals who have a high-school diploma and at least 2-4 years of related experience may be admitted to the program.
Admission with Advanced StandingAn exemption of up to two courses may be granted to students who have successfully completed equivalent courses. Specific documentation including a detailed course synopsis and a student transcript must be submitted with any request for Advanced Standing.
Certificate RequirementsThe certificate is awarded after successful completion of all program requirements. Students are required to complete six courses, three of which are compulsory.
There is a student evaluation at the end of each course. Candidates for the certificate program will be required to meet certain criteria specific to each program. In cases where examinations and papers are required, the student must attain a minimum of 50 percent and an aggregate average of at least 60 percent in the program. The progress of students may be reviewed at any time; in the case of unsatisfactory performance, the student may not be permitted to continue in the program. All requirements must be met within four years.
SchedulingTypically, courses range from 20 to 40 contact hours. Examinations, final papers, or assignments will constitute the various forms of student evaluation.
