Computer Skills Course

Dean K. AndersonDean Anderson, BSc, BEd, Computer Instructor. Dean is a member of the Sackville High Family of Schools Information Technology Committee in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Dean graduated from Saint Mary's University in 1986 with a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science, and from Dalhousie University in 1992 with a BEd in Mathematics. He is employed as a Senior Applications Analyst with the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. He has worked for many years as a software specialist, programmer analyst, programmer, teacher and naval reservist, and when teaching he draws upon his experience to provide real-world examples for topics being discussed.

Course Description

Computer Skills

The objective of this 6-8 week course is to expose students to as many of the fundamentals of Windows98, Internet and word processing as possible. The course focuses on identification of fundamental concepts. Hands-on classroom activities are limited, as students are required to observe the instructor and take notes while achieving specific tasks demonstrated. Students are expected to review the concepts taught on their own, or with a teaching assistant.
