Returning to Learning

Returning to Learning is a special orientation for Mature Students who are "Going Back to School"

Who is a mature student?

Some are 23; others are 73. Some come to take one or two classes on a part-time basis; others enrol in a degree program full time. Some have family and work commitments; others have recently experienced a change in their lifestyle that allows them the time to pursue a degree.

What is "Returning to Learning"?

This orientation is an opportunity to learn more about University services available to you, ask questions and meet other mature students. The number of adults enrolled in university courses has grown in recent years. The reasons for returning to formal education vary tremendously. Whatever the reason for being here - we are glad to see you.

What will I learn by attending "Returning to Learning"?

During this "Lunch and Learn" orientation you will explore such University services and resources as:

  •  Registrar's Office
  •  Student Union
  •  Library and Campus Tour
  •  University Accessibility
  •  Dalhousie University - non-credit computer courses
  •  Counselling Services - guidance and career counselling
  •  Writing Workshops - when and where to get help with writing
  •  Study Skills Workshops - when and how to get started
